The roots of the Midsouth Division can be traced to the beginning
of the 20th Century when John Lambert, Sr., opened a portable crushing
operation in Maryville, Tennessee. In the mid-1930s, five of John Sr.’s sons
formed Lambert Brothers Inc., which soon became America’s largest quarrying
operation. In 1957, Vulcan acquired Lambert Brothers Inc.
Today, the Midsouth Division strives to be the standard setter
with regard to the quality of its products, services and technical support.
Since our products are consumed locally to build and develop communities, we
make a special effort to be involved in and support the communities where we
operate.
This commitment goes beyond just being a good neighbor. For
example, we have forged long term Adopt-A-School business and education
partnerships at the majority of our facilities. Other community support
includes charitable contributions, support for teachers and schools,
sponsorship of local charitable causes, and donations of our products and time
through active employee volunteerism. Finally, we are committed to plant
beautification and are proud that over 70 percent of our quarries have received
the “Showplace Award” from the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association
for plant beautification efforts.
From customer satisfaction to community involvement and support, we look
forward to continued participation in the growth and success of the businesses
and communities we serve.
We operate our facilities in a socially responsible manner. Visit
our Social Responsibility page to learn
more about our commitment to the environment, our employees, and the
communities we serve. Additionally, Vulcan
Materials Company Foundation supports many public and charitable
projects such as working with schools, supporting environmental stewardship and
encouraging employee involvement in the communities where we have operations.
